How are you doing on the Inside?

He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper ~ Psalms 1:3 (NKJV)

Recently there was a very sad and terrible accident reported in the news where a tree fell on top of a car and killed a man. After investigating they found the tree that fell was perfectly healthy on the outside but was rotting at the base! The tree could no longer support itself and it just fell over! It was literally rotting on the inside!

In our lives we may run into similar situations where we, or maybe others around us look healthy on the outside but are rotting on the inside. What keeps them vertical is weak, and they may fall! We may never know because we only see the outward appearance or persona that is portrayed. In this life there will be times where we will fall because we can no longer support ourselves.

So what do we do? First and foremost we must be aware of our surroundings and the people around us. If we are sick the first thing we do is seek a doctor’s help. If we are hurting mentally we may seek a psychiatrist. Maybe we do a self-analysis and figure out what it is we think we need. Many times we can seek support from friends or family.

Myself? I did a self-analysis. I was an alcoholic, I drank seven days a week for many years, I became so used to the alcohol you could never tell whether I had a couple of drinks or several. I basically looked healthy on the outside but on the inside I knew I had a few too many! And I knew this was a problem! I needed to quit! I was rotting on the inside! I needed support! My base was weak! On June 3, 2011 I reached out to God and asked for His help and He gave me the strength that I needed to quit! And after making a commitment to follow Jesus I am no longer rotten on the inside! By his blood I am healed! I am supported with the best support I could ever get!

Jesus Christ, who was God in human form came to help those who could not help themselves, those who were rotting on the inside, and those who were hurting. He came so that we may all have life! Jesus heals what’s on the inside, what’s on the heart. Have you asked Jesus for help? Are you hurting? Do you need support? Today is the day! Reach out for the one true God! Have faith! Believe in Jesus! He can save you! He can make you strong! Be planted by the living waters that only Jesus can provide! Become rooted in His word and you will remain vertical! You will succeed!

Heavenly Father,
We all need help to overcome the weaknesses we may have in this life. We all need help internally with our hearts. Father we thank you for your Son and your word. We ask that you keep us filled with your Holy Spirit so we can stay rooted in your word, and your ways. I pray for the family of the man that was killed and those who may be impacted by this terrible loss. May they be comforted, May good come out of the bad! Thank you for all that you do! In Jesus name amen!
