Be prepared to qualify!

Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” – I Peter 1:13-16 (NKJV)

The job of a race car driver is to win races, but in order to win he must be at the front of the line! To get to the front of the line he must have a fast race car, and he needs to qualify. He also needs to get the prime position! But in order to do so, he will need to prepare his car and prepare himself! He will need to practice! He will get in his car and get on the track! He will learn where his speeds need to be the fastest. He will learn when to brake and when to steer. He will push his car to the limits in order to achieve the fastest time possible in order to qualify and win the pole position! He will then have a better chance of winning the race! But if he loses, he gets back to the shop and starts all over again! He learns from his mistakes and moves on to the next race! He collects points along the way and by the end of the season he may even take home the trophy for leading the most races because he gave it his all and never backed down, either way he wins!

Christians, in order for us to win this race called life we need to do the same! We need to prepare ourselves mentally for the challenges that lie ahead of us! We mustn’t be distracted! We mustn’t back down! We need to keep a clear and serious mind! We need to stay strong in the faith and avoid falling back into old habits! We learn from our mistakes and move on! We stay focused and keep our eyes fixed on the prize! We keep our eyes fixed on Jesus! We put into practice what we have been taught by reading god’s word! Now let us finish this race resting our hope on the return of our one true King! Our only savior that will save us from this God forsaken world! Jesus Christ will be returning soon and if we hold steadfast in the faith we will have victory over the enemy! Now be holy, as he is holy! Live your life for Jesus and put Him front and center in all that you do! Let it be His way, not your way! Keep in contact with him every day by praying, by reading His word, and shining the light that is your salvation! For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:8-10 NKJV). Now let’s live for God and press on! Let us prepare ourselves, let us be soldiers for Christ and build his holy army by spreading His word and spreading His light to others! Let us do the work of a true Christian, a true follower of Christ! As Jesus would say “Pick up your cross and follow me!” Let us win this race by giving it our all! Let us be prepared to qualify!

Jesus, Wonderful Jesus,
Thank you for all that you have done! Thank you for your great sacrifice! Thank you for the pain and suffering you took upon that cross for us! We ask that you keep us filled with your Holy Spirit while we keep our eyes fixed on you! We pick up our own cross and live for you! We shine your light before men! We live steadfast in the faith as we wait patiently for your return! Even though we can’t wait anymore! We say, come quickly! Make it so! Bring Heaven down, the time is now! But nevertheless, we press on we do the works needed to spread your word; we plant seeds and live for you until that time comes! Your word tells us the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore we pray Lord that we can be those laborers needed for your harvest! We ask to do the work that so many refuse to do! Lord Jesus, give us the opportunities and open those doors! In your mighty hands we commit these words to you! And it is in your name we pray, amen!
