In the blink of an eye

Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish. ~ Psalms 1:5-6 (NKJV)

As a former High school dropout I have no idea what it feels like to walk on a stage and be handed a diploma, but I can imagine! First, there would be butterflies in my stomach; there would be sweat pouring from my brow; my hands would be clammy; and I would definitely be nervous! As my name is called my mind would go quiet, I would barely hear the clapping of any hands. The focus around me would be very dim; people would definitely be staring at me. I imagine this huge stage and a very long isle leading toward it. As I walk to the stage it seems like time stands still. I reach the stage and barely make it up the stairs and across without falling. I receive my diploma, and within an instant I am back in my seat and it’s all over!

When our names are called and we move on from this life to the next, it will happen in an instant! There will be no time to imagine anything! There will be no long walks down any long isles, or walks up any long winding stairs. We will not stumble, we will not fall. In the blink of an eye we will either be in Heaven or Hell! For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish. ~ Psalms 1:6 (NKJV)

My mother, whom I love and miss very much died suddenly in 2002 and at that time I quickly realized life can be short, it can end in an instant, it can end in the blink of an eye! My mother was only 65, she was still young! She had no advanced notice that she was going to die. She had been waiting to leave the hospital after having a routine surgery on her ankle, she had trouble breathing and her heart stopped. She could not be revived, and she passed from this life to the next. Where she went? Only God knows! My mother did not go to church, she was not a Christian, and as far as I know she was not a follower of Christ. Will I see her in Heaven? I don’t know! I was not at the hospital when she died. Did she have time to reach out to God in her last moments? I don’t know!

What I do know, is what the bible tells me and what Jesus told His disciples “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. ~ Matthew 7:21 (NKJV) So, if you wait till the last minute you certainly can be denied an entrance!

The kingdom of Heaven is near! The time for salvation is now! Don’t wait until the last minute to decide you want to go to Heaven! You may not get your chance! Believe in the Gospel, Make a commitment to Jesus! Start a relationship with him today! You won’t regret it!

“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. ~ John 3:18 (NKJV)

Heavenly Father,
You know the way of the righteous, you know where they are going. When we put our faith in you and we commit our lives to a relationship with your son we are saved from the fiery death! And when the time comes, in a blink of an eye we will pass from this life to the next! Father, thank you for providing us a way to receive eternal life; thank you for your grace and the hope of a future; thank you for all that you do! Not our will but your will be done! Father, I pray that my mother did have time to reach out to you, or maybe she did know you but I was unaware, may I someday see her in Heaven and be surprised! In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!
