But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. (Philippians 3:7-11 NKJV)
Paul used to be a persecutor of the church and actually killed many Christians before he was converted and started proclaiming the Gospel of Christ. Paul never met Jesus in person like the other Apostles had; Jesus spoke to him on the road near Damascus during his time as “Saul of Tarsus”, Acts 9:3, a light had shone around him from Heaven and the Lord spoke to him. Paul had great faith and trust in the Lord and changed his ways. Paul felt all that he gained for his own sake was to be counted as loss and rubbish! What he gained in the Lord was so much better! Eternal life in Heaven with Jesus Christ! Are you willing to lose your life to know Jesus?
We pray to you today to thank you for your sacrificial gift of your son, without Him we would definitely be lost. Help us to know Him better so we can be like Paul the apostle and consider all our gains a loss and rubbish! Not our will but your will, in Jesus’ name we pray, amen!
